Core orientation device
Following experience with existing core orientation “rocket launchers”, we created a sturdier, non-magnetic device using industrial aluminium and stainless steel. Weighing 2.7 kg, it holds BQ–PQ cores and adjusts from 0–90° without additional supports. A 2 cm beam gap improves visibility, and side wings increase stability. Two robust hinges support 150 kg and tighten easily using ratcheted levers for confined spaces. The core-holding profiles are 40 cm long, ensuring secure handling during orientation work.

SGEO Studio
SGEO Studio — Structural geology logging and visualisation, built by geologists for geologists.
Logging structural data from the core and processing it later in a spreadsheet after orientation conversions is slow does not give you instant feedback nor understanding of your structures. We built SGEO Studio to keep measurements, desurveying, and visualisation in one place.
The application handles planes, lines, and fault-slip data with kinematics. True orientations are computed directly from alpha, beta, and gamma angles using your survey data, with three interpolation methods available: Minimum Curvature, Balanced Tangential, and Tangential. Results appear immediately on a lower-hemisphere equal-area stereonet, in a 3D view, and as a downhole strip log. Selecting any measurement in the table highlights it across all views.
Orientation sets are defined by drawing polygons directly on the stereonet. Each set reports Fisher concentration, α95, Woodcock shape and strength parameters, Bingham parameters, and full eigenvalue decomposition. Density contouring uses Kamb or Gaussian Kamb methods with optional Terzaghi sampling-bias correction for borehole data.
Interval data such as lithology, RQD, and assay results are imported and automatically linked to each structural measurement by depth. All data is stored in a single portable SQLite file and can be exported to CSV or Excel at any time, with 3D coordinates computed for every measurement and interval.
For orientation data not tied to drillholes, the standalone stereonet is free with no time limit.
Available for macOS 26 (Apple Silicon) and Windows 11. A free 7-day trial is included with every installation.
